* 173 goodie bags were made for college freshmen as they approach final exam week. Half were taken to a freshman dorm at the University of Alabama and half to one at Auburn, along with about 200 bottles of water. The bags included homemade cookies, chips, candy, gum, hot chocolate packets, granola bars, peanut butter crackers (aka "nabs" if you're from Mississippi!) and a handwritten Scripture card. The bags will be set out in the lobby of the dorms on Sunday afternoon before exams begin on Monday.
* A donation was made by a teacher in Mississippi to a colleague who is in the process of adopting a child from another country.
* A Hoover High eleventh grade advisory made ornaments and delivered them to the cafeteria workers at lunchtime. They will also deliver ornaments next week to the school custodians.
* Dunn Roadbuilders in Laurel collected donations for blankets to be monogrammed with "You are a (picture of a gem)." These blankets will be given to the residents of the Alexander Milne Home in Laurel, Mississippi.
* Hoover High SGA made fleece blankets to take to a local women's shelter.
* Hoover High senior class officers made goodie bags with coloring books and crayons for patients at Children's Hospital. Another advisory class made get well cards to include in the bags.
* Junior class officers at Hoover High put together a basket of baby items for a young couple who have just become foster parents.
